As we age, we tend to accept many of the common signs of low T (like fatigue, weight gain, and hair loss) as a fact of life, instead of a signal to book an appointment with a professional. But what if we told you there was a way you could effectively turn back the clock?

Low Testosterone Treatment is an increasingly popular solution for many men over 30.

One study documented over 10 million men in a decade had started hormone therapy to counteract the effects of hypogonadism back in 2013, and it’s gotten even more attention since then.

HRT might be the right answer for you, too.

Do I need Low Testosterone Treatment?

According to the American Urological Association, low T affects about 2.1% of us once we hit 30. If you’re like many men, then you may have low T and not even realize it.

The only way to know for sure is to make an appointment with a hormone replacement therapist near you.

There are a few key steps involved in diagnosing low T.

We like to get a complete picture of your mental and physical health.  During your first consultation, be prepared to answer a few questions about your health history.

We’ll be looking for a few key components. Have you experienced any trauma to your head or testicles? Do high blood pressure, stroke, or heart attack run in your family?

We’ll also conduct a thorough physical exam and a blood panel. If you’re struggling with a few extra pounds around the midsection, we like to check your BMI (body mass index) or the circumference of your waist to rule out obesity.

We’ve all heard the myth about balding men having higher levels of testosterone. The truth is, low T is one of the many causes of male pattern baldness. Dihydrotestosterone or DHT is a potent form of testosterone located in your prostate, skin, and hair follicles.

Some of us are naturally more sensitive to DHT which can trigger our follicles to stop producing hair. That’s why your physician may also want to take a closer look at your facial and body hair during your physical.

Blood tests are an excellent way for us to confirm exactly how much testosterone you are producing. On average, you can have anywhere from 270-1070 ng/dL. If your results are lower than usual, then we may suggest HRT.

5 Common HRT Options

There are currently five ways you can administer testosterone; transdermal, injection, oral, intranasal, and pellets. Every client is different; however, at Renew Vitality, we prefer testosterone injectables because they’re a safer choice for most men.

Transdermal treatments are absorbed through the skin and come in several forms like creams, patches, gels, and liquids. They’ll last around four days. If you do decide to go this route, be extra cautious when you’re around others. We don’t want you to accidentally expose your friends and family to your treatment.

Our clients particularly love the injectables because they’re incredibly convenient and effective. Guys can administer their treatment themselves at home once a week, and our concierge team follows up with them to check their progress and answer any questions.

The oral medication might look like a pill, but it’s actually a patch, we place above your incisor or canine. The FDA just approved Jatenzo, an oral treatment in 2019, to treat “age-related hypogonadism.”

Natesto is a popular intranasal gel for treating low T. Your doctor will prescribe the ideal dosage and the frequency for you based on your blood test results. Typically men start with one pump (11 milligrams) in each nostril in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

Testosterone pellets, like Testopel, are 3 millimeters by 9 millimeters, about the size of a grain of rice. Your physician can implant them under your skin, close to your hip or buttocks in the office. They’ll deliver a steady flow of crystalline testosterone for about four months.

Where can I get Low Testosterone Treatment in NYC?

In an average city, 64 hormone replacement clinics might sound like more than enough, but NYC is not your typical city. There are almost 9 million people who call the Big Apple home, and nearly half of us are over the age of 35.

One study suggested as much as 40 percent of adult males could be diagnosed with hypogonadism.
