Coping with the symptoms of Low T can be incredibly stressful. There are physical effects, like a loss in muscle mass, weight gain, and bone density loss. You may also have trouble sleeping at night, and feel tired all day.

The stigma of low T stops us from making an appointment with an expert.  It’s time to talk about Low T. Being diagnosed is not the end of the world. Hormone replacement therapy may be the answer you’re looking for.

Diagnosing Low T

Your physician will have to get the full scope of your medical history. During your consultation, they’ll ask you questions to see if you’re suffering from some of the common symptoms associated with Low T.

It might seem small, but something as trivial as a headache or having trouble sleeping could be a sign that you have a hormonal imbalance

If your family has a history of conditions like high blood pressure, erectile dysfunction (ED), obesity, stroke or high blood pressure, you could be at a greater risk for low T, as well.

They’ll check to see if you’ve had any past trauma. For instance, a blow to the head or testes can cause your T levels to drop.

During the physical exam, your doctor will check your BMI because there’s a link between being overweight and low T, especially if you’re like most of us and carry extra weight in your belly or breasts.

Testosterone affects your body’s natural ability to grow a full beard and can cause premature balding and thinning. That’s why some doctors will also look for signs of patchy or thinning body and facial hair.

In some cases, low T will shrink your testes. It’s common for doctors to double-check them during your consultation.

Testing your blood will also help us identify if you have a hormonal deficiency. Your doctor may order any of these blood tests, free and total testosterone level, Luteinizing hormone (LH), blood prolactin level, or blood hemoglobin or Hgb.

During the total testosterone level exam, they’ll take two blood samples before noon, because your T levels naturally lower throughout the day. Make sure to let your doctor know if you’re sick because it could mess up your results.

Many doctors choose to test LH, because it can help them pinpoint what might be causing your low T. If you have abnormal LH levels, then that could mean there’s an issue with your pituitary gland.

A blood prolactin level test can signal there’s a problem with your pituitary gland or a tumor affecting your T levels.

There are a few factors that can affect your Hgb levels, like smoking tobacco or sleep apnea. Low Hgb is also a good indicator of low T.

What are the Benefits of HRT?

There are several easy and effective options for HRT- like capsules, injectables, creams, patches, and gels- with minimal side effects and incredible results.

Low T tends to zap your energy. Many men find themselves feeling exhausted, no matter how much sleep they get. HRT re-energizes you, so you feel more like yourself again. It can help you find the motivation you need to start getting back in the gym.

You may even notice your strength coming back. Many clients say they can run faster and lift more once they start treatment. It boosts your stamina so you can power through your workouts and see results.

Depression, mood swings, and irritability are all common side effects of Low T. HRT not only makes you feel better physically, but it can also improve your overall mood and increase your self-esteem.

You could focus more at the office and get your memory back, too.

HRT can also help you in the bedroom. Low testosterone is often coupled with low libido and erectile dysfunction (ED). Shortly after the start of their treatment, clients notice an increase in their sex drive and their overall sexual health.
